Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has unveiled its new digital billboard. This state-of-the-art, 18sqm digital screen offers local businesses and national brands prime advertising space in a busy town centre location.
Located on Blackburn’s Barbara Castle Way at the Larkhill Interchange, this permanent advertising structure will deliver more than 600,000 audience impacts every fortnight and is the first step in the council’s digitisation agenda for the region.
Cllr Phil Riley said: “This new installation marks an exciting time for Blackburn as we invest in the latest technology for our city. Through marketing this prime advertising space to businesses in the North West and across the UK, our objective is to promote local businesses, while also creating a new source of revenue to fund community projects in our council district.
The digital billboard contract was awarded to NowSignage after a thorough tendering process by the council. NowSignage are an innovative Manchester-based digital signage business whose software platform is being used to remotely schedule and maintain all advertising activity. For this project NowSignage partnered with Smart LED, a leading UK outdoor screen provider to deliver what is hoped to be the first of many joint projects in the North West.
Cllr Phil Riley said: “We chose NowSignage and Smart LED as our digital service providers because of their robust and cost-effective cloud based digital signage platform. Throughout the project, Nick, Adam and the wider team have delivered a high quality product and service and we look forward to our continued partnership.”
Nick Johnson, Co-founder of NowSignage said: “We are very proud to have been chosen to bring new technology to Blackburn and will continue to work closely with the council to deliver future digital expansion projects across the region.”
